With over one thousand athletes coming through the weight-room per year, learn how Coach Kyle Jacksic effectively and efficiently manages these large groups of student-athletes!
Drive Intent & Competition with Live Leaderboards
"We love the live leaderboards. Our athletes EAT THAT UP! The student athletes are able to create a community of healthy competition".
Coach Kyle used the live leaderboards feature to create competition between athletes and boost motivation during sessions.
- Gamify training makes it more enjoyable.
- Create healthy competition and drive intent.
- Climbing the leaderboard is highly motivating for the athletes, by encouraging them to work harder during training.
- A sense of achievement will spur athletes on.
- Leaderboards can be created for the whole group session or be split into smaller groups to match athletes with those of a similar level. This prevents anyone from getting disheartened.
Simple & Easy For Athletes To Use
“Within 2 days, the student athletes could turn the device on, set it up and begin measuring within a couple of seconds by themselves".
Coach Kyle took his athletes through the system and within two days, they had it down! As a coach, your time is valuable and you may not have the capacity to check in on each individual person during a session, especially if you’ve got 80 athletes in the weight room at a time! Using the Output system is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
- Select your athlete profile
- Select your exercise
- Test and analyze
VBT Made Simple
“VBT: Autoregulation: We can’t see inside the athletes’ bodies so having something that allows us to give some level of insight and track that over time is a major benefit."
Coach Kyle’s favourite method of using VBT to autoregulate training is through Velocity Drop-off. This refers to the percentage of decrement in the velocity of each repetition that occurs over the course of a set. This style of programming involves terminating the set when the velocity falls below a certain percentage threshold of their first or best rep in the set. This way, athletes can push themselves to a manageable intensity to prevent excessive fatigue accumulation.
Assess Your Athletes Readiness
“Readiness Tests: If they are red, yellow, or green in the Output system, I’m able to have constructive conversations with those athletes that need help".
Coach Kyle utilized the RSI 10-5 test as a readiness assessment the first time he met his athletes each week and compared these results to baseline tests already completed. This way, he could quickly target the athletes that needed additional support.
"I also love the RSI ‘10-5 Test’. We utilize that as a readiness score the first time we see them in the week and I can quickly target the athletes that need help."
